British-Jamaican designer Martine Rose says it's time to "DISOBEY", as she drops a perfectly-timed exclusive football kit capsule.
On Wednesday, England’s Lionesses roared to victory in the Women’s World Cup semi-finals, defeating Australia in their own backyard. Fending off the hostile home fans, Millie Bright and Co emphatically took the nation into uncharted territory: a final awaits, the first for our women’s team, and the first for anyone since 1966.
Watching on, possibly from behind a sewing machine or sketchbook, would have been Martine Rose. England’s rapidly rising designer has developed a similar star power to the Lionesses, since their EUROs victory two years ago. In countless collections, the Clark’s creative directors dropped baggy jerseys, short shorts and incredibly long football socks, spotlighting the women’s game along the way.
Celebrating the Lionesses win in style, Martine Rose has just released another exclusive footy capsule. Titled “DISOBEY”, the v-neck shirts and matching shorts feature all the quintessential sporting motifs we’ve come to expect from the designer. Heat-pressed seasonal logos, a contrast ribbed collar and embroidered green chest logo complete a look that’s quickly becoming intrinsic to her runway shows.
The pieces are available to purchase via Martine Rose’s website or exclusively in MACHINE-A’s Soho, London store now.
In other news, Martine Rose enlisted Ruby Fox to serve up a segment of spoofy television programming for her latest Nike campaign. Creating a rolling sports news channel, titled MRSTV, the advert honours the Lost Lionesses of the 1971 World Cup and other pioneering British female footballing figures. The star-studded video features more trivial moments too, like the Top Of The Shots talent show, Subbuteo tournament coverage and humorous infomercials.
